# Database tables and data frames

One SQL query adds an answer column to a table of songs. It asks one `decide` question of each title and names the column `on_abbey`. The question and the band 0.3:0.7 sit inside the query as one JSON string.

SQLite runs this query and prints 1, 0, or NULL. The slide draws each as a mark for yes, no, or not sure. Penny Lane and Hey Jude fall inside the band. Both come back not sure. Jev says yes to A Day in the Life. That answer is wrong. The song first came out on Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band.

DuckDB and PostgreSQL ask questions inside SQL too. Polars, pandas, and R take a column and give a column back.

To set one up, start at [Install](/install/).

Ask the question where your data already lives.
